It’s time to review several stocks that had unusual options activity over the last week. Although traders can never be sure why these trades take place (and who’s making them), I believe it’s important to be aware of notable options activity as an indicator for directional bias.

TTM Technologies (NASDAQ:TTMI): 5,000 June 2017 $17.50 calls were bought for $0.65. There was follow through on Tuesday and Wednesday with open interest now at 8,151 contracts. On average, 65 calls traded per day prior to this action.
Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM): There was a rollout from 5,000 Dec 16 $68.50 puts (credit $0.34-$0.40 credit) into 5,000 Jan 20 2017 $67.50 puts ($1.49-$1.55 debit) in Salesforce stock options. On … Read More »

Autodesk (ADSK)- 8,000 July $52.50 puts were sold for $0.68-$0.70. The stock bottomed at $52.69 (at least for now) on June 15th.
Community Health Systems (CYH)- The July 2 weekly $55/$62 bull call spread was put on 2,000 times for a $2.90 debit. Shares are nearing a retest of major resistance at $57.50. On June 10th, Wedbush initiated CYH with an outperform rating and a $65 price target. There is an ACA ruling due out soon.
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (MDRX)- Over 3,000 July $15 calls were bought for $0.20, against open interest of 2,744 contracts. There about 2,600 bought on June 12th for $0.25.

CLNY- 2,000 Feb $25 puts were sold for $1.20 each, against no previous open interest (typically trades just 36 puts per day). He/she is making a bet that Colony Financial shares are able to breakout above the $24.50 resistance level and end above $25 on February options expiration (breakeven down at $23.80). The real estate and investment company trades at a reasonable forward P/E ratio of 13.40x on revenue that will more than double in a two year stretch (end of 2013 through 2015).
CYH- Someone rolled out 2,500 Jan 2015 $48 calls ($6.37-$6.38 credit) into 4,000 Mar $55 calls ($3.56 debit). Volume was above the open interest in the Mar $55 calls. DIS- Walt Disney will report Q4 earnings after the bell tonight. Analysts are looking for $0.76 in EPS and revenue of $11.4 billion. The options market is implying a $1.75 move, or 2.59%, in either direction through Friday’s close. Call to put ratio in (DIS) options is currently 1.36.
GRPN- Another name that will be in the earnings spotlight tonight will be Groupon. Analysts are looking for $0.01 in EPS and revenue of $616 million. Options traders are pricing in a $1.40 move, or 14.51%, in either direction through Friday’s close. The put to call ratio in (GRPN) options is 1.02.
CYH- 5,000 Mar. 2014 $46 calls were purchased for $2.05 each, against open interest of 94 contracts.
