Worst Month For Stocks This Year
Heading into the unoffical start of Fall, U.S. equities had their worst monthly decline of 2013. The S&P 500 (SPX) fell 3.13% in August and shed 1.84% for the week. The Nasdaq 100 (NDX) and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) dropped 1.62% and 1.33% this week, respectively. Volatility (VIX) soared 21.67% to close at 17.01, but was well off of Friday’s intra-day high of 17.81.
